Portfield Hall Evening Group
This group is currently running online via Zoom and/or Facebook. Currently we are offering two services;
1) One-to-One correspondence with Chantelle. You can book one hour sessions in advance to talk one-to-one about any aspect of writing. Sessions are £10 each. Book a session to suit yourself, subject to availability. This can involve reading and feedback of work, writing advice, tips, challenges and prompts. Advice on publishing routes, editing, proofreading and much more. This is perfect for anyone who is new to writing, unsure about joining a group, or feeling shy about sharing their work. It is also ideal for anyone who is advancing and requires more specific advice and coaching.

2) Zoom group meeting. If you would like a group session via Zoom, these are running on the first Monday of every month from 7-8.30pm for £5 a session. This has been set up after feedback from writers who are struggling to write during the pandemic. It was agreed a longer, monthly, workshop-style meeting would better suit current needs. Therefore this is an opportunity to meet other writers, talk about your writing struggles and hurdles, receive advice, tips and feedback to help you overcome any issues, and have writing prompts and challenges during each session to get your creativity flowing. There will also be discussions on topics agreed or requested in advance – publishing routes, querying agents, beta reading, editing, story structure, plot and pace, characterisation and much more. We encourage a warm and friendly atmosphere at the group and many of our writers have gone on to finish and publish their novels and other work.

The Red House Museum Group
New for 2020, we are running an adult writing group at The Red House Museum, in the Courtyard Activity Room, within the beautiful setting of The Red House Museum. This is a more structured group, meeting every Tuesday from 1pm-2pm, £4 per person, per session, on a half-termly pay in advance basis or on a pay-as-you go basis if preferred. This group is ideal for new writers, or those who have lost confidence, as well as those who would benefit from meeting new people and gaining support and feedback on their work. The aim of the group is to provide friendly support, professional advice and to encourage progress!
We will make time each week to check in with people’s progress and listen to work and offer feedback but we will also have a timetable for writing exercises to encourage development of plot, structure, characterisation, setting, location and much more.
Each half-term block is payable in advance via the Chasing Driftwood website and works out at £4 per person per session, but please feel free to email Chantelle on chanatkins@hotmail.co.uk for more information.
